Nickelodeon’s 22nd Annual Kids’ Choice Awards Hosted by Dwayne Johnson Will Be Telecast Live, Saturday, March 28
Los Angeles, Calif. – February 6, 2009 – Kid faves/superstars who’ve notched a spot among the A-list of nominees for coveted Kids’ Choice Blimp trophies in Nickelodeon’s 22nd Annual Kids’ Choice Awards – the kudo/mess-fest to be telecast live from UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion Saturday, March 28 (8-9:30 p.m. ET/PT) – include: Jennifer Aniston, Beyonce, Jack Black, Chris Brown, Jim Carrey, Miranda Cosgrove, Miley Cyrus, America Ferrera, Selena Gomez, Anne Hathaway, Vanessa Hudgens, The Jonas Brothers, Alicia Keys, George Lopez, Michael Phelps, Adam Sandler, Will Smith, Ben Stiller, Reese Witherspoon, Nat Wolff and Tiger Woods. And this year, when kids honor their favorites from the worlds of film, music, TV and sports – and go green amid massive slime showers – action star host, Dwayne Johnson, will rock at the helm…
Last year’s Favorite Musical Group, The Jonas Brothers, are contenders in that category, competing against Linkin Park and KCA newcomers Pussycat Dolls and Daughtry. Beyonce, who grabbed a pair of Blimps in 2007 (Favorite Female Singer and Song) got dual noms (Single Ladies). She’ll face off against former KCA winners Cyrus and Alicia Keys and Rihanna whose Don’t Stop the Music also is nominated for Favorite Song. Chris Brown, who seized a Blimp last year, is up again for Favorite Male Singer…

Kids will be able to cast their vote online at http://www.nick.com/kca beginning Monday, March 2 in a total of 18 categories. Surprise awards also will be announced during the show. Kids also will be able to vote via the Nick mobile website (wap.nick.com). Beginning Monday-Friday, March 2-6, a different category will be featured on-air each day, and kids again vote for their favorite online at Nick.com.

‘Candy Land’…the movie? What’s next, ‘Hungry Hungry Hippos: The Motion Picture’?

With Universal announcing that they are developing a movie based on the board game, Candy Land, we realized just how much film potential there is in adapting other classic kids’ games. Here are some others we’d like to see in the works:
HUNGRY HUNGRY HIPPOS
In DreamWorks’ CGI comedy, a family of obese hippopotami get kicked out of the hippo community for eating too much food. Bruce Willis (pictured), Holly Hunter, and Joe Jonas voice the tubby clan. Alone in the African jungle, they inadvertently find themselves helping out King Toucan (Gilbert Gottfried), whose stockpile of magical white pellets is being stolen by evil crocodiles. Fast-food marketing opportunities abound, as well as tie-ins with The Biggest Loser and possibly yogurt-covered peanuts, which look kind of like the white pellets. Jesse McCartney sings the title song, “Hungry Hungry Hippos (Wha-chu Gonna Eat Now?)”

What!? No Disney Channel Games This Year!?

Sad news, Disney Channel fans: There will be no Disney Channel Games in Orlando — or anywhere this year.
The channel is putting its emphasis elsewhere.
A Disney Channel spokesperson said Wednesday: “While we are proud of Disney Channel Games and its great success over the past two years, this summer we are focusing on the launch of a new charitable initiative with Disney Channel and Disney XD stars. Details will be announced shortly.”
Last month, Disney Channel honcho Gary Marsh said the young stars’ busy schedules could scuttle the games this year.
Last year’s event attracted Miley Cyrus and Jonas Brothers, and the channel promoted “Camp Rock.”

Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas will be joined by 90210 star Jessica Lowndes for special promos and never-before-seen footage. The brothers will talk about their experience working in 3D, and will show a clip of the group performing their hit song “Tonight.”

Change for the Children: Get Updates Through Texts!

The Jonas Brothers have a new section to their Change for the Children website. They took down the promotional video on the homepage to announce their new “text program“. This allows you to receive text updates about the charity and also volunteer work in your community that help raise money for charities and as well help the Jonas Brothers’ foundation. You can get more information about the program by clicking here. If all can apply, it’s not harmful to sign up (if younger than 13 get parent’s permission & everyone should check your cell phone plans).
